Contact us today for your free 15-minute phone consultation
How long is a session?
Counseling sessions are 50 minutes long.
What is your fee?
Our fee is $160 per 50 minute session.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept credit card, debit card, cash or check.
Do you accept insurance?
We do not accept insurance at this time but are considered out-of-network providers. We can provide a form at the end of the month for you to send to your insurance company to possibly receive full or partial reimbursement. We recommend that you confirm reimbursement rates and your current deductible with your insurance company before starting counseling. If reimbursement is desired, we will need to provide your insurance company with a diagnosis which we will discuss with you first.
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes.
How often will my child see you?
We recommend that clients have one session per week to maximize the benefits of counseling. Weekly sessions are especially important for children as they learn new skills and tools to practice outside of sessions.
My child is having a hard time at school. Can you help?
We do offer teacher consultations over the phone at our hourly fee. We may request that your child's teacher complete some assessment forms or data sheets for us to get a clearer understanding of how your child is doing at school. During the teacher phone consultation we would review any requested behavior data forms and make recommendations.
What can I expect if i decide to begin therapy?
THE PHONE CONSULTATION
We offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we would be a good fit for your needs. During this conversation we will ask you to briefly summarize what is happening and what you would like your child to receive from therapy. We will also set an appointment time to meet for the initial session, make sure you have the office address, determine who will need to be present in the first session (i.e., just parent, parent with child, or just child) and review the session fee.
THE FIRST SESSION
It is best if you arrive 10-15 minutes before your first session to complete intake and assessment paperwork. At the end of the session we will schedule the next session.
AFTER THE FIRST SESSION
The assessment process generally takes a few sessions for us to observe your child across multiple days, to build a relationship, and get a clear picture of their needs to create a comprehensive individualized treatment plan. At the end of the assessment period, we will schedule a time to meet with you without your child to review treatment goals, the therapeutic process, how we are working with your child in session, and ways you can help your child outside of session build on their new skills. During this meeting, we may suggest a parent training component and/or family sessions to work on specific parenting or family goals. During parent training sessions, we will check in with you on how your child is doing at home or at school and review any questions or concerns you have. Goals are not set in stone and can change as necessary.
ENDING THERAPY
Once your child has begun to achieve his or her goals, we will discuss transitioning to every other week and then to once a month to allow you child more time between sessions to use the skills he or she has learned. During this time we will also be reviewing what your child has learned, possible challenges he or she may face in the near future, and ways to cope with them. We will also discuss what things might happen that would lead him or her to return to therapy. The termination phase is an important part of therapy and a time for your child to prepare for the closure of therapy and our relationship. We do our best to make space in our schedules for clients who want to come back to therapy. However, If we are not able to see you we will refer you to another therapist or add you to a waiting list for when we have an opening.

How long will therapy last?
This is different for every child and family. The length of counseling will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, your child's needs, treatment goals, and environmental factors in your child's life.
What is confidentiality?
Confidentiality means that the information you or your child share with us in session will not be shared outside of the therapy room. However, there are a few instances in which we would be mandated by law to break confidentiality. These include suspected child abuse, elder abuse (65+ years old), dependent adult abuse, or if we find out that your child has a plan to kill him/herself or someone else. Also, if we were to see you in public we would not approach you to protect your confidentiality. Lastly, we are firm believers in upholding confidentiality for minor's. The therapeutic relationship is built on trust and a child must be able to trust us in order to open up and make progress in therapy. If we feel that there is something that you need to know or that you can help your child with outside of therapy we will discuss this with the child first before telling you.
