Living Bridge Counseling I A Roseville Counseling Practice
What is teen therapy?
Teen therapy is generally for youth 12-17 years old. Teen counseling is similar to individual counseling in that the main format is one to one talk therapy. Should I bring my teen to counseling? Common reasons teens come to counseling include depression or irritability, anxiety, developmental delays, difficulty coping with stress, divorce, low-self esteem, problems with peers, relationship problems, difficulty in engaging in social situations, family conflict, self-harm behaviors or suicidal thoughts, grief or loss, making poor choices, life transitions, and more. How do you work with teens? The teenage years have gotten a bad rap. It is seen as a time of hormonal mayhem, risky behaviors, and family conflict. This time can be very stressful for both teens and their families, but we believe that these years are a wonderful time for teens to discover who they are and their place in the world. Counseling is a safe place for them to process this journey and gain skills to cope with stress and conflict. With me they are free to be themselves. My goal is to help them see how wonderful and unique they are as well as learn life skills that will help them to become healthy and happy adults. How can therapy benefit my teen? Teen therapy can be beneficial to both you and your teen. It may result in an increase in positive mood or outlook, decreased worry or anxiety, decreased family conflict, increased ability to cope with stress, decreased self-harm behaviors or suicidal thoughts, and increased self-esteem. |
